Nature at Risusaari
Risusaari is covered in pine and birch forest, and the island features walking trails that allow visitors to explore its serene surroundings. On the island is a cozy campfire, and the shores of Lake Keitele provide a wonderful setting for relaxing by the water and swimming. Nature lovers will appreciate the local wildlife, including ospreys and woodpeckers, and the seasonal berries and mushrooms in the island’s forest.
Lake Keitele Inspired Artists
Lake Keitele, Finland’s 9th largest lake, surrounds Risusaari with its crystal-clear waters, making it an excellent spot for paddling. Akseli Gallen-Kallela, a key figure in modern Finnish painting, painted Lake Keitele in the summer of 1904. Today, the painting is housed in the National Gallery, London.
