The scenery of this route is picturesque. The first half of the tour (Petäjävesi-Jämsänkoski, 55km) passes through small rapids and narrow lakes with slight stream.
The tour starts from the Petäjävesi old curch, which is on the UNESCO World Helitage list. Overnights can be in tents, campings
or in manors. After Jämsänkoski, the tour enters to äijänne the second largest (1080 sqkm) and the deepest (98 m) lake in Finland, and we turn towards the north.
In this section to be found the second UNESCO World Heritage site, a check point of the Struve Geodetic Arc. It is worth crossing the lake and visit the
Vaarunvuori Nature Reserve, which represents a unique microclimate in this lattitude.Group size: 5-8 people (recommended)
